GENERAL ADMISSION INFORMATION

It is recommended that parents arrange a visit to tour the campus prior to submitting their child’s application and non-refundable $55 application fee, payable online.   You may schedule a tour by calling the main office at: (808) 946-4025.  Tours for the Preschool Program [3-5 years old] are given on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October and November. Tours for the ‘Ohana Toddler Program [2 years old] are given on Tuesdays and Thursdays in February.

Admission Observations and Assessments are scheduled for all applicants to the Preschool Program in January.

Applicants to the ‘Ohana Toddler Program (2 years-old) do not participate in observations. The submission and receipt of Toddler application for the upcoming school year begins Jan. 5 through Feb. 28.

ALL parents must submit the completed Confidential Parent Questionnaire, Pastoral form, and online application fee in order for their child’s application file to be considered complete.

Admissions priority is given to children of Central Union Church members, current siblings and children of alumni.  Central Union Church Preschool and Kindergarten does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, gender or handicap in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial assistance programs or other administered programs.

Applications for the Toddler program are accepted beginning in January.  Children must be 2 years old by the program start date (August) and do not need to be toilet trained.  Applications must be fully completed via online portal by February 28.

Preschool applications are available online beginning  September 1 for admission to upcoming Fall preschool program school year.  Children must turn 3 years old by the end of the calendar year and be fully toilet trained to be eligible for the program.  Applications must be fully completed via online portal by November 30.

Summer school applications (for Preschool Program only) are available in March, must include a $55.00 application fee and is due by April.  Tuition must be paid in full by May 1.  Priority is given to currently enrolled students and new incoming Central Union Church Preschool students.  Information on cost and other program information can be obtained by contacting the preschool office at (808) 946-4025.

Financial Assistance is awarded on the basis of financial need through the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, the  Ruth McGraw/Doris Rewick Scholarship Fund, and the Luana Kalama Mento Endowed Scholarship Fund, as well as the support of the Central Union Church Preschool and Kindergarten endowment fund that is supported in part through preschool fundraising events.  The deadline for submitting Financial Aid Applications is February 15th.

Eligibility is determined by the Student & Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS) of Princeton, N.J. (https://www.solutionsbysss.com/). The SSS school code for Central Union Church Preschool and Kindergarten is:  2240. Confidential results are sent to CUPS and reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of Central Union Church Preschool and Kindergarten.  Awards are mailed via United States Postal Service by June 15th. CUPS’s strong commitment to offering financial aid to eligible families stems from the desire to assist young families in their pursuit of high quality early childhood education for their children.  Contributions to the Ruth McGraw/Doris Rewick Scholarship Fund plus income from the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation Endowment, and the Luana Kalama Mento Endowed Scholarship Fund go directly to provide financial assistance to families whose children would not otherwise be able to attend CUPS.  This enables us to continue to support the desires of the congregation of Central Union Church by enabling ethnic and socio-economic diversity among our families.  It is an important component of CUPS as this mirrors the real world in which our children live.

Kamehameha Schools Pauahi Keiki Scholars (PKS).  The Kamehameha Schools Pauahi Keiki Scholars preschool scholarship program provides need-based scholarships for students to attend non-KS preschools in Hawai’i.  Preschool children three years of age and older attending or enrolling in participating PKS preschools may apply for PKS scholarships.  Visit the PKS website for more  information.  (http://www.ksbe.edu/finaid) Preschool Open Doors (POD):  POD is a statewide early childhood education and care project funded by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services.  POD helps children attend preschool by helping families pay preschool costs for one year.  Contact PATCH at POD@PatchHawaii.org or call:  791-2130 (Oahu) or 1-800-746-5620 (Neighbor Islands). Applications for Preschool Open Doors can also be downloded from the internet by going to www.patchhawaii.org and clicking the link to the Preschool Open Doors page.  From the POD page there is another link on the right column of the page “to download an application” “click here. Admission Application

Applications for admission to the Preschool Program are accepted from September 1 through November 30 for the following Fall preschool school year.  Applications for the Toddler ‘Ohana Program are accepted from January 5 through Feb 28. The application process MUST BE completed online in full via the Big Sis portal. Children must be toilet trained by the first day of school to be eligible for the Preschool Program (3-5 years old). Applications must be fully completed via the online portal by required deadline date applicable to the interested program. Any completed application submitted post due date, will be automatically placed on the wait list.

A non-refundable $55.00 application fee must be paid online with submission of application and all required documents. None receipt of any of the above will result in an incomplete application.

‘OHANA TODDLER ADMISSION (2-year-old program)

Our toddler program serving 2-year-olds is a wonderful start for children preparing to enter school for the first time. Beginning in 2006 we have been pleased to offer this program that has proven to be very popular.

Each teacher is certified for this very special age group and the program offers both part-time and full-time options for families, which are: Toddler Morning (7:30-11:30 am) OR Toddler Full Day (7:30am-2:30 pm). Extended morning or after care is not available for the toddler program.

Applications for the ‘Ohana Toddler program are accepted beginning January 5. Applications must be fully completed via the online portal by Feb. 28. Any completed application post Feb. 28 will be automatically placed on the waitlist. Children must be 2 years old by the program start date (August) and do not need to be toilet trained.

‘OHANA TODDLER open application period for the upcoming school year runs from January 5 – February 28.

PRESCHOOL (3-5-year-old program)

Since 1928, when the first class of children began their education at Central Union Church, this has become our foundation program. We are proud to have served so many families and offer eight classrooms for children ranging from ages 3-5.

The regular program is offered 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with options for before and after school care. Additional fees apply.

The Preschool program open application process is made available online and is reviewed starting September 1 for admission for the following Fall Preschool program. Children must turn 3 years old by the end of the calendar year & and be fully toilet trained to be eligible for the program. Applications must be completed entirely and submitted via online portal by Nov.30. Any completed application post Nov.30, be will automatically be placed on the waiting list.

WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR UPCOMING 25-26 SCHOOL YEAR  FOR THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM (3-5 year olds).  Open application period runs from September 1 – November 30.  ‘OHANA TODDLER Program open application period for the 25-26 SY will run from January 5 – February 28.

Summer Program

SUMMER PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL ONLY

We offer a 5 week program in the June & July months for those newly accepted and returning children enrolled into CUPS Preschool Program for the upcoming school year. Summer sessions days are Monday – Friday (except for July 4th holiday) and offers the following programs:

  • Regular Day Program, 7:30 a.m.– 2:30 p.m.
  • Before School Care, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.
  • After School Care, 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (** availability of Summer ASC is subject to change based on staffing)

Information and application process for the summer programs are available in March and are due by April.

Summer school applications must include a $55.00 processing fee. Tuition must be paid in full by May 1. Enrollment for CUPS Summer program is currently ONLY available enrolled students and new incoming Central Union Church Preschool students. Information on cost and other program information can be obtained by contacting the preschool office at (808) 946-4025. Summer session is NOT available for incoming toddlers.

EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS

A host of extracurricular programs are offered both during the regular school year and summer which may include activities such as: Dance, Ukulele, Menehune Sports, and Soccer Shots. To find out more about a specific offering, please contact the preschool office at (808) 946-4025.
