In Hawaii, May Day is Lei Day and the children at Central Union Preschool and Kindergarten celebrated this event themed “We Make a Rainbow”. The annual celebration was filled with beautiful flowers, colorful costumes, songs and dances that celebrated the beauty of the islands. We started off with a group chant led by Tara Krishnagopalan and Nicholas Kunisaki and sang songs such as “Eia Makou,” “Eight Islands,” and “We Make a Rainbow.” Each room showed off their hard work through their song and dance routines to performances such as “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride,” “Hele On to Kauai,” “Right On,” and “Kaho‘olawe.”

A special mahalo to our Lei Day committee, musicians and to the parents who helped by bringing flowers and greenery, setting up before the program, cleaning up after the program and making our beautiful costumes. Mahalo nui loa kakou!
