Welcome to Central Union Preschool!At Central Union Preschool & Kindergarten, children learn by doing and parents are encouraged to help kindle their child's passion for learning. On October 16, 1928 fourteen children entered the garden gates of Central Union Church Preschool and Kindergarten (CUPS). Now, over 80 years later, CUPS serves over 160 families, 2 to 6 years of age. It ranks today as one of the state's largest church related preschools. Sponsored by Central Union Church in Honolulu, the school's Christian based program recognizes the individual and cultural uniqueness of each child and the importance of engaging the whole child in learning experiences that are stimulating and fun. The school's highly qualified teachers, many with advanced degrees, involve young children with a variety of teaching strategies in classrooms and play areas designed to promote the social, emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual growth of children. Central Union Preschool and Kindergarten has a nine month school calendar, along with a six week summer school program. Extracurricular programs are also offered. These have included but are not limited to: Ukulele, Art, Japanese Language, Mandarin, and Dance. CUPS is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and is a member of the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) and is licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS). |
